The San Jose Sharks will be without Tomas Hertl for an indefinite period of time.
The winger suffered a right knee sprain on Nov. 17 and will require minor surgery, general manager Doug Wilson announced Monday.
"Hertl will undergo a minor procedure (Tuesday) under the direction of the Kaiser Permanente medical team," Wilson said in a statement. "Following the procedure, Hertl will proceed with his rehabilitation schedule in San Jose.
"No timetable has been set for his return to game action."
Hertl recorded four goals and five assists in 17 games this season.
It should be noted he missed most of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final with an injury to his right knee.
