Kate Upton: Writers who left Verlander off ballot were 'paid off'

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Kate Upton isn't close to finished with ripping AL Cy Young voters.

The supermodel was so angered by Wednesday night's controversial voting results - that gave Boston Red Sox right-hander Rick Porcello his first Cy Young and left her fiancee, Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander, in second place despite earning more first-place votes - that she initially lashed out with a profanity-laced tweet.

Her anger continued into the night when she learned that two writers from the Tampa area left Verlander off their ballots entirely, essentially costing him the award on points.

Upton continued defending Verlander's case vociferously through her social media accounts, even suggesting foul play from the two writers in question.

For what it's worth, Upton and Verlander might have one member of the Tampa Bay Rays on their side. After seeing the individual voting results, Rays pitcher Chris Archer weighed in with insight about one of the voters in question.

Porcello - who said "I honestly don't care" about Upton's reaction - squeaked out the Cy Young victory by just five points, despite garnering only eight first-place votes to Verlander's 14.
