Agent: Motta unlikely to extend Paris Saint-Germain stay

Italian international Thiago Motta's agent says the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is unlikely to extend his stay in the French capital when his contract with the club expires.

Motta, who joined the four-time defending Ligue 1 champ in 2012 from Inter Milan, is out of contract in the summer, and with the emergence of Adrien Rabiot paired with the acquisition of Unai Emery's Sevilla pupil Grzegorz Krychowiak, it would appear that the 34-year-old's spell with PSG is nearing its end.

"His contract (with PSG) is about to expire and I really don't think we are going to renew it," Motta's agent Alessandro Canovi told RadioGoal24.

"A Serie A return? It depends but I do not believe he will return to the league," Canovi added. "He has already done everything in Italy, winning the league several times and the treble with Inter."

"We will look at other solutions (outside of a Serie A return)," Canovi added. "At 34 years old, we are taking it day by day and it is still very early."

After Canovi's words made the rounds, the agent took to Twitter to clarify his remarks and the possibility of a potential January exit for his client, saying that Motta and PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi will discuss the Italian's tenure in due time.

Canovi is no stranger to lobbying for his clients on Twitter, and in 2014, he expressed his disdain for those critical of Motta and proposed the idea of a summer sale that June.

A January sale would allow the club to make a dime on the player, and with Emery liable to employ a midfield trio of Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti, and a combination of Rabiot and Krychowiak, Motta may fancy looking elsewhere for his next club.
