After four consecutive 2-0 losses in World Cup qualification bouts against the United States in Columbus, Ohio, El Tri's salvation came from an unlikely source in Miguel Layun.
For his first Mexico strike since September 2014, Layun laced an innocuous effort that, via a deflection off a defender, went beyond the despairing reach of Tim Howard.
