Gastelum misses weight, Cerrone fight removed from UFC 205

The most star-studded card in UFC history is down one of its most intriguing fights.

Kevin Gastelum announced Friday during official weigh-ins that he'd missed weight and therefore won't be taking on Donald Cerrone in the planned welterweight bout.

Gastelum, who falls between welterweight and middleweight weight classes, previously missed weight on two occasions when scheduled for bouts in the former.

Thiago Alves was the only other fighter to check in above the permitted threshold Friday.

Rather than being removed from the card entirely, though, Alves' tilt with Jim Miller will go on as scheduled with the provision he surrender 20 percent of his purse as a fine.

The lightweight bout was at risk when Alves weighed in at 162.6 pounds, but Miller then began to rehydrate and get up to 157.6, and thus within the five pounds the New York commission requires, to keep the fight on the preliminary card, via MMA Fighting.

All other fighters made weight and are officially set to be in the Octagon on Saturday.
