Report: Belichick did write supportive letter to Trump

Stew Milne / USA TODAY Sports

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed during a rally Monday that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had written him a glowing letter of support.

Trump read out the letter, but it was met with skepticism from many, considering Belichick is famous for his lack of flowery language and the presence of Trump-speak like "tremendous."

However, Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com confirmed that Belichick did indeed pen the letter to Trump.

"Congratulations on a tremendous campaign," Trump said at his rally, quoting the letter. "You have dealt with an unbelievable slanted and negative media, and have come out beautifully – beautifully. You've proved to be the ultimate competitor and fighter. Your leadership is amazing. I have always had tremendous respect for you, but the toughness and perseverance you have displayed over the past year is remarkable. Hopefully tomorrow's election results will give the opportunity to make America great again. Best wishes for great results tomorrow."

Trump also claimed Tom Brady had voted for him, though Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, said they didn't support the businessman in reply to a question on her Instagram.
