Popovich on U.S. political climate: 'I am scared to death'
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is worried about the worsening political climate in the United States heading into the upcoming presidential election.
Popovich is known to be one of the most thoughtful characters in the league, and based on how this year's election has unfolded, the former Air Force cadet is terrified for the future of America.
"It's the political season. Facts don't matter, right?" Popovich joked dryly, according to Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio News-Express. "You can say what you want to say and life goes on. Nobody cares. It doesn't even have to be true. It doesn't even have to be close. You just say whatever you want."
"I am scared to death," Popovich added.
When pressed further as to who he was voting for, Popovich joked that former Golden State Warriors bench boss Don Nelson got his vote.
The solution to America's problems? Popovich for president.
