Calgary Flames forward Kris Versteeg will be sidelined for a couple weeks while dealing with a groin injury, head coach Glen Gulutzan announced Saturday.

Versteeg sustained the injury during Thursday's win over the San Jose Sharks. The Flames placed him on injured reserve Saturday, and recalled prospect Hunter Shinkaruk from the AHL.

In 12 games with the Flames this season, Versteeg has recorded four points.

Shinkaruk, a first-round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2013, notched four goals and four assists across seven AHL contests prior to being recalled.
