Namath apologizes to Smith for questioning injury
It took a couple days, but somebody finally relayed Geno Smith's message to Joe Namath: players don't get to choose their own injury designations anymore.
Namath believed Smith's ability to stand on the sideline after exiting the New York Jets' Week 7 contest vs. Baltimore meant he was healthy enough to play through his apparent injury, asking "How bad can it be?" via Twitter on Sunday. Smith, who actually tore his ACL in the game, fired back in rather mature fashion afterwards, prompting Namath to realize his mistake.
@GenoSmith7 My bad Geno. In the dark ages we players had the say. I hope you heal and play as long as you choose! Joe

Namath, 73, appears to be forgetting a lot of things recently, including his own advice from the day before he made his initial remarks about Smith.
Don't ever question why people get hurt playing football!
