Michigan State withholds depth chart for Michigan game

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Imitation continues to be the greatest form of flattery.

Michigan State chose not to release a depth chart as they have in previous weeks ahead of its game again Michigan and Jim Harbaugh, who's one of the few coaches that doesn't make his starting roster public.

The Spartans aren't the only team to have fun with Harbaugh and the Wolverines with the roster practice. Earlier in the season, Colorado presented a fictional depth chart that included names like Vito Corleone, Elmer Fudd, and Eric Cartman - a scheme Harbaugh didn't find amusing.

The trick might have something to do with Michigan State boasting a disappointing 2-5 record after losing five straight, while the Wolverines are rolling at 7-0 and hold the No. 2 ranking.

The better guess? As Murphy said, it's rivalry week.
