Milan manager rules out move for Chelsea's Fabregas

AC Milan isn't willing to offer Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas an escape route out of Stamford Bridge.

Despite the loss of midfielder Riccardo Montolivo to a serious knee injury, the Italian team's manager, Vincenzo Montella, has denied interest in the struggling midfielder, saying Fabregas is not the type of player he is looking for.

It's somewhat of a blow to Fabregas, who has struggled for playing time under new manager Antonio Conte, and has reportedly been contemplating a move away from Chelsea.

With the January transfer window quickly approaching, Montella has taken AC Milan out of the running to sign the Spain international.

"We are looking for a player who has the characteristics of Montolivo, who can also play in a midfield two," told Corriere della Sera, as translated by Sky Sports.

"Fabregas? He doesn't have those particular attributes."

Montolivo sustained ligament damage in his knee while on international duty with Italy, and is expected to be out for up to six months.

Fabregas, who is under contract until 2019, has only managed to make four appearances this season.
