Aguero allays calf injury fears

Argentina and Manchester City supporters can breathe a collective sigh of relief after star striker Sergio Aguero confirmed Monday that a calf strain suffered in training is no cause for concern.

Aguero will remain in South America and is available for La Albiceleste's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Tuesday.

"I'm quite well now, you get physical fitness playing, not training. Bauza has the decision - I'll be available for Tuesday," Aguero told Diario Ole, courtesy of Manchester City's official website.

"I'm much better. After the Peru game I had two days to make the recovery and I did a little bit of football today. I'm quite well."

City fans will be relieved to hear the good news, especially with the slate of matches Pep Guardiola and Co. face following the international break.

Dates with Everton, Barcelona, Southampton, Manchester United, and West Bromwich Albion highlight a busy schedule for the Premier League table-topper. The squad is already without Kevin De Bruyne, who continues to nurse a thigh concern, while Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph, and Raheem Sterling have also been struggling for match fitness.

Full-back Bacary Sagna will also miss three weeks with a hamstring injury, which will force Pablo Zabaleta into Guardiola's starting XI. If it's any consolation to City supporters, Zabaleta and Argentina teammate Nicolas Otamendi are both suspended for the match with Paraguay, allowing the defensive duo to return to England early.
