Mets' Rivera uses ex-teammates' bats during BP

At batting practice Wednesday ahead of the National League wild-card game, New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera used a bat with someone else's name on it.

In fact, the name on the bat isn't even of a current Met.

Rivera's teammate, Wilmer Flores, received a shipment of bats during spring training with the wrong name on them - that of Jesus Flores - whose bats somehow ended up in the Triple-A Las Vegas clubhouse, reports ESPN's Adam Rubin. Rivera has been using them ever since - but just in batting practice, not games.

Jesus Flores was drafted by the Mets as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela in 2002. He made his debut for the Washington Nationals in 2007 and played his last MLB game at age 27 in October 2012. He was signed and released by several teams over the next three years, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, and Miami Marlins.
