New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith was forced to the sidelines in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens with a knee injury.

Smith, who made his first start this season in place of a previously ineffective Ryan Fitzpatrick, could be seen in visible pain after taking a third-down sack in the second quarter. After having his right leg evaluated on the training table, he was taken to the locker room and eventually ruled out.

Fitzpatrick entered the game on the following drive and immediately led the Jets' offense downfield before finding Matt Forte for New York's second score of the day.

Prior to the injury, Smith had completed 4-of-8 attempts for 95 yards and one touchdown - a 69-yard strike to Quincy Enunwa.

Fitzpatrick was unable to build upon his career-best 2015 campaign while starting the first six games of the season, connecting on just 57 percent of his passes for 1,441 yards, five touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
