Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Friday, September 30 (all stats exclude Thursday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Robinson Cano (SEA) vs. OAK 8
Ian Kinsler (DET) at ATL 8
Sean Rodriguez (PIT) at STL 8

Cano has five multi-hit games in his past eight outings and a .366 average in his past 10. The former Yankee has also displayed some power, going yard three times in his past three games. That power should be on display against Oakland SP Raul Alcantara, who's allowed five home runs in just 20 1/3 innings.

Rodriguez is enjoying a career year at age 31. He's an economical option in cash game formats.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Dee Gordon (MIA) at WAS 6
Rougned Odor (TEX) vs. TB 5
DJ LeMahieu (COL) vs. MIL 5

Gordon has picked up a stolen base in four straight games, giving him a decent floor in any matchup. Unfortunately, the swift second baseman has hit a meager .237 outside of Marlins Park.

LeMahieu is one of the priciest options at the key stone. His lack of power makes that price tag a poor value play.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Matt Carpenter (STL) vs. PIT 3
Logan Forsythe (TEX) at TEX 3
Derek Dietrich (MIA) at WAS 2

Carpenter is hitting just .220 in the second half of the season and .207 in September.

Dietrich is no longer locked into a full sale of at-bats with the season coming to a close. Combined with a lack of power, that instability isn't worth consideration in DFS.
