Griffin pens apology to fans for fight last season: 'I messed up'
Blake Griffin already apologized for the fight in February that left him sidelined for months with a broken hand, but he felt the need to repeat himself.
In a post on The Players' Tribune, Griffin took full responsibility for the scuffle and issued yet another apology to Clippers fans.
I am truly sorry. What happened in Toronto was 100% my fault. I messed up.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it. And I don't mean that in some clichéd "not a day goes by" way.
I genuinely think about it every single day, and I just feel like I let down the fans who have been riding with us since the beginning.
Griffin's punch of a Clippers staffer not only cost him months on the injured reserve, but the franchise also suspended him an additional four games. Factor in another quad injury, and he finished the year with only 35 appearances.
That same quad injury flared up again in Game 4 of the Clippers' playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers. The injury, along with a broken hand for Chris Paul, culminated in a first-round exit in six games.
