White teases Alvarez-Nurmagomedov at UFC 205 after champ calls out McGregor

Every fighter worth their salt is pining for a slot at UFC 205, the promotion's inaugural shindig in New York City. Despite the incessant speculation surrounding the event's matchups-to-be, Dana White isn't doing the pundits any favors.

Reigning lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez, who's rumored to close the show with his first title defense against Conor McGregor, called out the Irishman on Twitter to get the matchmaking wheels in motion on Tuesday night. The featherweight king issued a succinct, cryptic directive early Wednesday morning, presumably in retort to the callout:

Not to be left out, top-ranked contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, who's optimized his limited English in a litany of callouts directed at Alvarez, promptly joined in the cyber-beef:

Shortly afterwards, UFC president Dana White further muddied the waters by supposedly teasing Alvarez's next opponent in reply to a fan's inquiry.

"The Eagle" took White's answer as a "birthday gift":

True to the perpetual nebula surrounding UFC 205's half-baked card, a main event has not been confirmed, nor have the handful of fights reported to have already been targeted. Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley recently announced he'll put his strap on the line against Stephen Thompson at the event, but their clash has not been deemed its headliner.

UFC 205 is scheduled for Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden.
