The rankings apply to standard-scoring leagues. Skaters accumulate value via goals, assists, plus/minus, penalty minutes, power-play points, and shots on goal. Goalies track wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts.

Becoming one of the more underrated players in the league, Wheeler is coming a career-high 78 points in 2015-16. The Jets should make a big step this season with the addition of Patrik Laine, lessening the defensive focus on Wheeler. Toffoli's point totals have been steadily increasing every year.

Kucherov tallied a career-high 66 points last season, and he'll again lineup with C Tyler Johnson and W Ondrej Palat. The trio had a very slow start to last season, but they all finished the season with excellent second-half numbers. Stone is becoming a focal point of the Senators offense, recording consecutive 60-point seasons. He is also a strong presence on the defensive end.

Oshie scored a career-high 26 goals in his first season with the Capitals. His 185 shots on goal was the second-highest total of his career. He'll continue producing at an elite level with Ovechkin absorbing the majority of the defensive attention. Ehlers is likely to skate opposite Wheeler in his sophomore season. He also projects to see top unit power-play time.
