Colin Kaepernick's fan base has grown since his public protestations during the national anthem.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback now owns the league's most popular jersey, as his No. 7 uniform has flown off the shelves. He's also received plenty of public support from fellow players and athletes from other sports.

On Wednesday, a day before the regular season kicks off, Kaepernick thanked his supporters in an Instagram post that features a collage of fans and artists wearing his jersey or rocking his new Afro hairstyle.

"I want to thank everyone who has shown me love and support, it truly means a lot!" he wrote. "I wasn't expecting my jersey sales to jump to No. 1 because of this, but it shows the people's belief that we can achieve justice and equality for ALL!"

Kaepernick finished by vowing to donate all the proceeds from his jersey sales "back into the communities."

"I believe in the people, and WE can be the change!"
