Luck confident in Colts' offense: 'We're going to score a lot of points'

Preseason results are by no means a true reflection of a team's ability, but the Indianapolis Colts' starting offense has scored just six points in three quarters of action.

This development comes after the team struggled to a .500 record without star quarterback Andrew Luck for the majority of last season and as they attempt to move forward with a rookie center (Ryan Kelly) and a sophomore at right guard (Denzelle Good) on the offensive line.

The weaknesses in front of Luck have led to questions about whether the signal-caller will be able to stay upright and healthy long enough to reignite the Colts' offense this season, but the team isn't worried.

Luck told reporters early this week the offense's lack of preseason punch is disappointing, "but we'll work on things."

"I know we're going to score a lot of points with this offense," he said. "We have playmakers and guys that can get the ball in the end zone and we'll keep chipping away at practice and we'll be alright."

Head coach Chuck Pagano was a little more direct when broached on the topic.

"I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that everything is going to be OK," he said. "We have to execute, we have to communicate, we have to make plays and we have to put the ball in the end zone."

The preseason is all but over for the Colts' starters as none are expected to suit up for the team's final preseason game Thursday, so the first-team offense's next opportunity will come Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.

"I got what I wanted out of it," Luck said of his limited preseason reps. "Obviously you want to go in there and you want to complete every ball and throw a touchdown on every play, but that's not the case in football.

"I think we're right where we need to be and by no means are we perfect. We still have a lot of work to do and we'll keep grinding."
