Two days after he was placed on revocable trade waivers, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has been claimed by an unknown team Tuesday, sources tell Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

The Dodgers and the club in question can now attempt to work out a trade for the talented Cuban. If a deal can't be reached - it's not clear how advanced talks are - the Dodgers can choose to pull Puig back from waivers, leaving him ineligible to be dealt until the offseason, or let him go to the claiming team for nothing.

Players must be traded before midnight Wednesday in order to be eligible for postseason play with a new club.

Puig has been playing in Triple-A since Aug. 1 after another up-and-down season at the big-league level. The mercurial 24-year-old seems to have found a groove in Oklahoma City after struggling at the plate with the Dodgers, posting a 1.045 OPS with four homers in 70 minor-league plate appearances.

Earlier this week, manager Dave Roberts said the team hasn't decided whether Puig will receive a September call-up.

Puig: Triple-A hasn't been 'very appealing or fun'

Puig hit .260/.320/.386 over 81 games with the Dodgers this season. He has another two years and a little over $17 million remaining on the seven-year, $42-million contract he signed in 2012.
