Tottenham has identified its next transfer target as the club closes in on a move for Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

According to Lyle Thomas of Sky Sports, the north London side is interested in luring the 22-year-old away from Bayer Leverkusen in a transfer that could cost Tottenham over €30 million.

Leverkusen manager is reportedly willing to let the player leave as he does not consider him as a choice to make the starting team on a weekly basis, while Calhanoglu's agent, Bektas Demirtas, says Tottenham has approached him over a potential transfer.

A move for the attacking midfielder could be in jeopardy now that Leverkusen will be without Javier Hernandez after the Mexican forward broke his hand and will miss at least two weeks.

Calhanoglu, who arrived at Leverkusen from Hamburg on a transfer believed to be worth €14.5 million in 2014, scored three league goals in 31 appearances last term.
