Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp admits that, while Saturday's defeat at Premier League new-boy Burnley was a limp display, he'd be a "real idiot" to dip into the transfer market because of the result.

On the heels of a stunning 4-3 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates, Liverpool dominated the promoted Clarets in every statistical category except the one that ultimately matters, losing 2-0 courtesy of goals from Sam Vokes and Andre Gray. Klopp conceded the result came down to a lack of finishing.

"There were a lot of moments that were really good without us having the last punch in the decisive moments," Klopp offered.

Even in defeat, the grinning German was quick to refute claims his squad required strengthening.

"If one game should change my mind then I would be a real idiot," Klopp said. "I know you would all buy a left-back but a midfielder?"

Despite 80.6 percent possession and 26 total shots to Burnley's three, Liverpool lacked some bite in midfield to go with tepid finishing in the final third. As in the Arsenal match, Klopp opted for a 4-3-3, with Jordan Henderson sandwiched between Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana in a largely ineffective midfield.

Klopp chalks that up to absences by two Reds defensive midfielders.

"Emre Can was on the bench, he had a back problem, Lucas Leiva is injured and you ask me for a hard midfield player. The answer is I don't know - we will see."

With the transfer window slated to slam shut nine days from now, Klopp appears content to work with what he has, rather than adding to a heap of newcomers like Sadio Mane, Ragnar Klavan, Loris Karius, and Wijnaldum.
