Questions to Answer

  • Is Blake Bortles ready to lead the way?
  • Can the young talent on defense make an immediate impact?
  • Were the offensive line upgrades enough?

Best-Case Scenario

Jacksonville's ceiling will largely depend upon the development of both Bortles and what's now an incredibly intriguing defense. If the young quarterback can cut down on turnovers, and the trio of top talents making their NFL debuts can live up to expectations on the other side of the ball, a 9-7 mark is well within reach. Such a result could conceivably have the Jaguars in the hunt for both a wild-card spot and an AFC South title.

Worst-Case Scenario

Bortles regressing, or the new-look defense hitting some early bumps in the road, would be enough to put the team's ascent off for another year. The Jaguars are on the rise, and it won't be long before they're back in the playoffs, but another top-10 pick remains a possibility before that long-awaited time comes.
