Watford snags Pereyra from Juventus for reported £10.4M fee

Watford announced midfielder Roberto Pereyra as its second signing of the day on Friday, acquiring the 25-year-old from Serie A champion Juventus for a reported £10.4-million fee.

Younes Kaboul's move to Herefordshire was confirmed only hours earlier.

The deal for Pereyra, which is subject to a work permit, could potentially rise to £13 million if certain targets are met, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano. That would represent a club record for Watford, exceeding the £12.5 million it paid earlier this summer to acquire Isaac Success from Granada.

Pereyra struggled to earn playing time in Serie A after joining the Bianconeri from Udinese on an initial season-long loan in 2014. Incidentally, Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo counts Watford among the clubs in his family portfolio.

Pereyra is a tricky player who's capable of producing fancy dribbles and playing in several midfield roles. However, he's best used in an attacking capacity.

He will also provide support for the likes of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, whose goals last season kept Watford competitive.

The Hornets host Chelsea in their Premier League home debut Saturday.
