Forgotten Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry has banged in six goals on Rio 2016 duty with Germany, drawing the attention of Hertha Berlin.

Manager Pal Dardai confirmed an interest in loaning the former VfB Stuttgart youth teamer.

"Serge exactly meets our search parameters," Dardai told Bild, according to ESPN FC's Stephan Uersfeld. "Let's see what will happen in the next couple of days."

Hertha apparently isn't put off by a recent snag in Gnabry's development. The 21-year-old's loan spell with West Bromwich Albion last term was cut short in January due to a lack of first-team opportunities, but the right winger then carved out just five outings for the reserves upon returning to north London.

What could hinder any forthcoming deal for the southwest Germany native is the fact his current contract expires in 2017. The Gunners would likely prefer to tie down Gnabry to a longer term rather than just sending him out on loan, possibly giving rise to a situation where he leaves for a derisory compensation package at the end of his contract.

Dardai suffered a hit to his wing resources earlier this summer when Roy Beerens signed for Reading, and Hertha could still face competition for Gnabry's signature from Red Bull Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Gnabry is likely to line up in Germany's Olympic semi-final against Nigeria on Wednesday.
