Andy Murray has set himself up to become the first player to defend his Olympic single's title after beating Japan's Kei Nishikori in straight sets Saturday.

The Wimbledon champion won the semifinal contest 6-1, 6-4 to advance to his second Olympic final.

The 29-year-old will play the winner of Saturday's other semifinal between Spain's Rafael Nadal and Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro.

Murray won gold at the 2012 Olympics in London after beating Switzerland's Roger Federer in straight sets.
