With one party desperate for first team football, and the other looking to add top-flight experience for a Premier League return, Burnley announced a season-long loan for Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan on Friday.
Flanagan, 23, makes the Turf Moor switch after signing a contract extension with Liverpool in 2015, and will be part of Sean Dyche's Burnley squad for the Aug. 13 league opener against Swansea City, according to a statement on the club's website.

After a serious knee injury saw Flanagan miss the entire 2014-15 season, the Scouse-born full-back didn't return to training until December, making just eight appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's lot.
"I need to get back to the level I was at, and to do that I feel like I need a consistent run of games so I think this is the best opportunity to do that," Flanagan said Friday after passing a medical.
"It's a massive club with passionate fans, and I can't wait to get started here now."
