Nick Marshall isn't coming back to Memphis.

Last week there was speculation that Marshall might not return to the Tigers program after missing offseason workouts.

Marshall told the Memphis staff he was leaving the campus to tend to his sick mother at home, but was actually staying with his pregnant girlfriend.

Head coach Tubby Smith confirmed Monday that Marshall will not return to play for Memphis.

"We're disappointed that Nick is not coming back to the program," said Smith. He added, "We appreciate that he was with the team last season, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Before setting his Twitter account to private, the 6-foot-10, 230 pound center apologized for leaving but said he's sticking with the decision.

Marshall was thought to play a bigger role with the Tigers this upcoming campaign, averaging just 3.1 points, 2.7 rebounds in 31 games last season.
