Report: Memphis unsure Nick Marshall will return to program
Memphis center Nick Marshall may not be playing for the Tigers and Tubby Smith this season, according to Jason Smith of the Commercial Appeal.
Marshall missed the entire summer workout season when he told the Memphis staff he was leaving to be with his sick mother in Lexington, Tenn.
Then, when the 6-foot-10, 230 pound center disconnected his phone, preventing anyone from reaching him, Smith drove to his mother's place only to find out Marshall wasn't present.
Marshall was tweeting from Lawrenceburg, Tenn. a town 85-miles from his hometown, where it's understood he is with a woman that he got pregnant.
It's unclear whether Marshall will ever return to the Memphis program and even if he does, academically he might not be qualified, according to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports.
Marshall was expected to fill the void of Shaq Goodwin this season. As a freshman last year, he averaged 3.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in 31 games.
