Are the Yankees preparing for a Chris Sale blockbuster?
The ink isn't even dry on the trade that sent Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians, and already speculation is running wild over whether the New York Yankees are gearing up for an even bigger move.
Less than a week after the Yankees received top shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres and three other players from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Aroldis Chapman, general manager Brian Chapman stockpiled more high-end assets Sunday, acquiring a package that includes top outfield prospect Clint Frazier and left-hander Justin Sheffield from the Indians in exchange for New York's All-Star reliever.
The two moves bolster a once-depleted stable of young talent, one that now includes Aaron Judge, Greg Bird, Luis Severino, and Gary Sanchez, in addition to Torres and the former Indians minor leaguers. All of which begs the question: Are the Yankees preparing for an even bigger blockbuster ahead of Monday's deadline or during the offseason, one that would possibly involve Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale, who will reportedly cost teams five top prospects? Joel Sherman of the New York Post and others suggest it's possible, what do you think?
