Report: Steelers' Bell skipped multiple drug tests
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review in June that he hadn't missed any drug tests.
Apparently, he lied.
A day after news broke that Bell is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's drug policy by missing a test, Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith passed along a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Bell actually missed "several" drug tests.
How or why Bell believed he could lie about skipping tests without it being made public remains unclear.
Bell is appealing the four-game ban, but it's hard to imagine him winning his appeal if he truly did miss more than one test.
Assuming Bell's suspension sticks, it will be the second straight season he misses time due to drug-related discipline. A year ago, Bell was forced to sit out the Steelers' first two games as the result of an arrest for marijuana possession and DUI.
Remarkably, Bell is on the verge of a second suspension for a drug violation despite never actually testing positive for drugs.
