You can add Carson Palmer's name to the list of players who believe the New York Jets should reward Ryan Fitzpatrick for his stellar 2015 season.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback, who is spending the week playing at a celebrity golf tournament with Fitzpatrick, believes his close friend and fellow passer gives the Jets a "legit shot," presumably of making a run at a Super Bowl.

"I don't know the exact numbers (of the offer), but I know Ryan very well," Palmer said, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. "He's a good friend of mine, he's an ex-teammate of mine, and I know what he means to a locker room. I know what he means on the field.

"He's been a great player for them. I hope they take care of him the way they should because he means so much to that team. That team wants him there, and they have a legit shot with him at quarterback."

After New York handed defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson a long-term contract extension and consequently freed up some much-needed cap space, it was assumed talks between the club and Fitzpatrick would accelerate.

However, the two parties reportedly haven't spoken in over a month, meaning the standoff is likely to extend into training camp, which starts July 27.
