Bournemouth's wallet is noticeably lighter Thursday after the south coast side paid a reported £15-million club-record fee for Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe.

Ibe, 20, joins the Cherries on a four-year deal and for an undisclosed fee, though reports suggest that it was for a club-record cost, according to Ben Fisher of the Guardian.

"He played plenty of football with Liverpool last season and we're looking forward to seeing him to continue to grow now with us, he's a huge prospect," Cherries chief exec Neill Blake said Thursday.

Considering Ibe was on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp's first team all season, it's surprising that he managed to make 27 league appearances, with 12 coming as a starter for the London-born player.

Bournemouth's previous highest-paid move was a £13.3-million swoop for Arsenal academy grad Benik Afobe from second-tier Wolves last January. The Afobe transfer was part of a busy year of transactions for the club on its Premier League debut.

Defender Tyrone Mings moved from Ipswich Town for £11.3 million before a combined £29.05 million was spent on attackers Max Gradel, Lewis Grabban, Glenn Murray, and Lee Tomlin.

While the club broke the bank last season, this year has been one for values, with the fee paid for Ibe an anomaly among Bournemouth's resourceful summer purchases.

Prodigious central midfielder Lewis Cook made the switch from Leeds for a fee of £7 million while Lys Mousset crossed the channel from French talent incubator Le Havre for £6.5 million. Joining them are American Emerson Hyndman, who jumped a tier from Fulham on a free transfer, while full-back Nathan Ake injects some youth in Eddie Howe's back-line on loan from Chelsea.
