Bebe celebrated his 26th birthday by joining a new club.

On Tuesday, SD Eibar signed Bebe to a four-year contract, bringing an end to his time at Benfica and marking the start of another chapter in the Portuguese forward's colourful journey across the world of European football.

Brought up in a children's home and on the streets, Bebe made headlines in 2010 when he joined Manchester United in a controversial transfer. The Red Devils signed him from Vitoria de Guimaraes for €9 million (£7.4 million) after only a single season in third division of Portuguese football.

Sir Alex Ferguson said at the time Bebe was the only player he had signed in his managerial career without watching first.

Sure enough, Bebe went on to tally only two goals and seven appearances for United, cementing him as one of the Red Devils' worst-ever signings and one of the Premier League's greatest flops.

Things have improved for Bebe, however. He subsequently joined Benfica and spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, where he tallied three goals and six assists through 34 La Liga appearances.
