Watch: Gignac misses chance to win Euro 2016 in 92nd minute

Andre-Pierre Gignac was inches away from clinching a third European Championship for France.

In the 92nd minute of Sunday's final, Gignac managed to turn Pepe inside out before slipping a shot past onrushing goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Unfortunately for the Liga MX player, the ball ricocheted off the inside of the near post. Gignac could only hold up his arms in disbelief.

By surviving that late French flurry, Portugal became the first team to play in three extra-time matches at a single Euro.
