Warriors credit Steve Nash for helping to land Durant

The lure of playing with Stephen Curry and Co. in the Bay Area was surely a massive factor in prying Kevin Durant away from Oklahoma City, but it may have been the counsel of another future Hall of Fame point guard that sealed the deal.

According to Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins, Durant actually shared more of his concerns about chemistry and fit in conversations with Warriors consultant Steve Nash than he did in his now infamous conversation with team advisor and NBA legend Jerry West.

Whatever it was that Nash and Durant discussed, as the latter embarked on the toughest decision of his career, the Warriors sound convinced it was an integral component of the end result.

"Without Steve Nash, I'm not sure if we get Kevin Durant," Jenkins quotes one Warriors coach or executive.

Even in retirement, the two-time MVP continues to dish out assists, though the Thunder surely won't see it that way.
