Amid all the stunning goals and noteworthy performances on the pitch, one of the consistently memorable elements of major international tournaments comes prior to a ball being kicked.

The national pride that is an integral part of these competitions is always best captured while each country's anthem is blaring over the speakers and ringing throughout the stadium, and that has been the case once again at Euro 2016.

Here are the best national anthem moments from the tournament:

Darijo Srna reduced to tears

Croatia captain Darijo Srna took the pitch against the Czech Republic mere days after the death of his father, having returned home for funeral proceedings before rejoining his teammates in time for the side's second group fixture of the competition. Understandably overcome with emotion, the 34-year-old broke down in tears during a moment that was both touching and heartbreaking.

Buffon remains the anthem king

The Italian national anthem simply won't be the same after Azzurri captain Gianluigi Buffon hangs up his gloves. If nothing else, Leonardo Bonucci seems capable of making up for the missing decibels once his Juventus teammate calls it quits.

Welsh players overcome with pride

Ahead of Wales' tournament opener against Slovakia, midfielder Aaron Ramsey admitted the Dragons were holding back tears while listening to some 24,000 fans sing "Land Of My Fathers" inside the Stade de Bordeaux.

"We've been waiting for this moment for a long time, to experience what we experienced was fantastic," Ramsey said. "It was really spine-tingling hearing the anthem sung like that with so much passion. That was incredible.

"It was quite emotional when the anthems were being sung. We had to pinch ourselves to stop the tears coming down. It was fantastic."

Ball boy hits the dab during Northern Ireland anthem

Not content simply to stand around while the anthems were playing, this youngster capitalised on his opportunity for internet fame when he hit a (lengthy) dab ahead of Northern Ireland's clash against Germany.

Stirring rendition of La Marseillaise ahead of semi-final

Sit back, watch, listen, and let the goosebumps take over. Beautiful.
