Manchester United continues to prove that it doesn't need Champions League football to attract top players.

The Premier League side could be close to announcing its second major signing in as many days after Borussia Dortmund confirmed Saturday that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will join Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford next season.

The Bundesliga outlined how United made an offer that made it difficult to reject the sale considering the Armenian international's contract with Dortmund is set to expire next summer.

"Manchester United have made us a tremendously valuable offer," Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told the team's website. "Had we rejected it, the player would be able to leave for free in 2017.

"Borussia Dortmund wishes Henrikh Mkhitaryan all the best for the coming season in both the Premier League and in the UEFA Europa League."

While Dortmund did not disclose the transfer fee it will receive, reports suggest United will pay roughly £30 million.

Mkhitaryan's impending arrival comes after three seasons in Dortmund where he scored 23 goals and set up 29 assists in the Bundesliga.

The 27-year-old will be the third major signing since Jose Mourinho was announced as Louis van Gaal's replacement at season's end, joining Ibrahimovic and defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
