Wales boss Coleman elated after win: 'Don't be afraid to have dreams'

Chris Coleman was in an understandably joyous mood following Wales' unprecedented qualification for the semi-finals of Euro 2016, the Red Dragons making their first final-four appearance at a major international tournament after a 3-1 upset of Belgium on Friday.

Coleman, who took the job in 2012 after the death of close friend Gary Speed, had a simple message after the iconic triumph at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

"Dream! Don't be afraid to have dreams," he told reporters. "Because four years ago I was as far away from this as you could imagine. And look what's happened.

"If you work hard enough and you're not afraid to dream and you're not afraid to fail. Everybody fails, I've had more failures than I've had success but I'm not afraid to fail.

"And every now and again - I can't say every now and again because this has never happened to me - but I'm enjoying it, it's sweet and I think we deserve it."

Coleman, who praised the side's marquee players - Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, and Joe Allen all received special mention - made a point to highlight the contributions of some of the unheralded members of the team as well.

"I'm really happy for Sam Vokes. He doesn't always start but he always turns up and works so hard," Coleman said. "For Ashley Williams, he doesn't score many, but what a leader. Hal Robson-Kanu, wow, what a performance."
