Italy's Candreva ruled out of Spain clash

Italy has confirmed Antonio Candreva will be unavailable for Monday's Round of 16 showdown with Spain as he struggles with a hamstring problem.

Lazio's right-sided player was a menace down the flank in the Azzurri's opening two Group E fixtures against Belgium and Sweden, but was rested for the Ireland test on Wednesday after undergoing tests on the ailment.

In his stead, Alessandro Florenzi is capable of fulfilling his role, but has been more often utilised at right-back by his club side, AS Roma. Other alternatives to be shunted onto that side of the pitch would be Matteo Darmian and Mattia De Sciglio.

In more positive news ahead of Monday's repeat of the Euro 2012 final - in which Spain triumphed by a comprehensive 4-0 scoreline - Italy can welcome Federico Bernardeschi back into the fold following concerns over his knee.

The victor will advance to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, where it will face either Germany or Slovakia at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux on July 2.
