Watch: Matz massages elbow between innings

A week after the New York Mets brushed off Steven Matz's elbow tenderness in his last start, the lefty once again appeared uncomfortable on Friday.

Before coming out for the fifth inning against the Atlanta Braves, Matz was seen rubbing his elbow profusely as he waited to toe the rubber. He got one out in the fifth before being yanked.

Earlier in the week, Matz chalked it up to his elbow being “just a little tender, maybe fatigued," he told reporters. "It’s just stuff you go through during the season.”

The news comes after the Mets got over a two-day whirlwind of dealing with the scary elbow injury Noah Syndergaard suffered during his start Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals.

Syndergaard exited the game early to get tests, which later revealed no structural damage.
