It was all set up for another clash between Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. Portugal, having fought back to earn a 3-3 draw against Hungary, looked destined to meet England in the Round of 16.
Iceland had other plans.
A 94th-minute tally in Group F's concurrent fixture saw the Euro 2016 darling defeat Austria in the last second.

As a result, Iceland leapfrogged Portugal into second place in the section, thus setting up a meeting with the Three Lions, who themselves were forced to settle for a disappointing second-place finish in Group B.
Both sides find themselves on a loaded side of the knockout bracket, which includes Germany, Spain, Italy and France.
