Report: 76ers inform Simmons he'll be taken 1st overall following workout
Despite previous reports that he wouldn't be working out for any teams prior to the 2016 NBA Draft, LSU freshman Ben Simmons has given the franchise in possession of the No. 1 overall pick a private look at what he can bring to the table.
The 19-year-old forward took part in a workout for the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday morning at Philadelphia College of Osepathic Medicine. His camp was later informed that he will be taken first in the draft, league sources told Cleveland.com's Chris Haynes.
Simmons' agent, Rich Paul, reportedly wouldn't have granted permission for the workout had such a promise not been given.

Team general manager Bryan Colangelo told Calkins Media's Tom Moore that Simmons went through drills similar to what Brandon Ingram and Jaylen Brown did, which "speaks to his desire to be No. 1."
"We control (who we take at No. 1)," Colangelo said. "Everybody else is in a guessing mode."
Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, two steals, and 0.8 blocks during his one and only season with the Tigers.
