Shaqiri on flimsy Switzerland shirts: I hope Puma doesn't produce condoms

What Sunday's dour goalless draw between France and Switzerland lacked in goals, it more than compensated for with hilarious mishaps: Namely, the deficient nature of the Swiss kits, as Granit Xhaka (twice), Admir Mehmedi, and Breel Embolo all saw their shirts ripped at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Puma, the team's kit sponsor, came under heavy criticism for its feeble equipment, and many jokes were cracked at the manufacturing giant's expense.

Easily the best, however, came from Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri, who added further levity to the situation when asked about the shirt issues by Blick.

"I hope Puma does not produce condoms," he said, according to The Guardian's Alan Smith.

A Puma spokesperson told the British outlet the company is looking into the situation: "Five Puma teams have played 10 games in this tournament without such problems. Our product people are currently investigating the shirt material. We will provide a further update when we have one."

Adidas also experienced a less-than-flattering moment in the spotlight during Sunday's contest when the official match ball burst after Valon Behrami went into a tackle on Antoine Griezmann.

A stud seemed to put a hole in the ball, which retails for £105.
