Dean Ambrose cashes in Money in the Bank, captures WWE championship

WWE Network

World Wrestling Entertainment has a Lunatic Fringe as its world champion.

Dean Ambrose captured the Money in the Bank briefcase earlier in the evening during the "Money in the Bank" pay-per-view, earning the right to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship bout whenever he saw fit.

It didn't take long for him to decide when that time would be, as Ambrose elected to cash in his contract shortly after Seth Rollins regained the title from a game Roman Reigns in a grueling, hotly contested main event.

As Rollins looked toward the entrance ramp, Ambrose came from behind and smashed the briefcase over his former Shield partner's head, laying him out in the center of the ring.

Ambrose then declared his intentions to cash in to the nearby official. Seconds after the bell rung, he grabbed Rollins and delivered his Dirty Deeds DDT finisher, pinning his shoulders to the mat for the three count.

The show went off the air with Ambrose posing in the squared circle with his newly won belt, as fans inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas cheered in approval.

This is the 15th time out of 17 tries in WWE history that the briefcase has been cashed in successfully. John Cena and Damien Sandow are the only superstars to ever fail in their bid to become champion.
