Alouettes part ways with Tajh Boyd, Dominique Ellis
The Montreal Alouettes made another round of cuts Saturday, and a couple of notable names won't be cracking the 2016 opening day roster.
Quarterback Tajh Boyd and cornerback Dominique Ellis are among those released by the Alouettes heading into the regular season.
Boyd is known for his stellar tenure as the starting quarterback for Clemson, where he holds school records in passing yards (11,904) and passing touchdowns (107). He was signed by the Alouettes on Nov. 7, 2015.
Ellis appeared in 18 games for Montreal last season, recording 43 defensive tackles and two interceptions. He was less than pleased to hear the news, and made his feelings known on Twitter.
✌🏾️ welp peace Montreal

In total, the Alouettes released 14 players, assigned 10 players to the practice roster, and placed five players on the six-game injured list as they attempt to meet league roster requirements heading into Week 1.
