Weiss warns Slovakia colleagues of old friend Sturridge

Vladimir Weiss has shared some intel ahead of Slovakia's meeting with England on Monday, singling out former teammate Daniel Sturridge as a dangerous man.

Weiss and Sturridge both progressed through the Manchester City academy together, and the inclusion of the England striker next week seems likely following the struggles of Harry Kane.

"England's game was dramatically revived by Daniel Sturridge," said Weiss, referring to the Liverpool man's match-winning introduction off the bench in Thursday's 2-1 victory over Wales.

"I know him from Manchester City. He's an exceptional player, as confirmed by his club form. But all (England) players have quality. It will be necessary to prepare well.''

The Slovakian winger, now of Qatari club Al-Gharafa, is also familiar with Joe Hart from his City days, and Gary Cahill and Jack Wilshere from a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.

"I know a couple of the guys and it has been a long time since I have seen them," Weiss continued. "I look forward to that.''

Slovakia beat Russia last time out, meaning it now has three points in Group B, the same tally as Wales, and one point short of first-placed England.
