Villanova's Jenkins returns to UNC for 1st time since 'The Shot' to play pickup

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The last time he was on the same court with players from North Carolina, Villanova's Kris Jenkins broke their hearts.

Jenkins made one of the most iconic shots in NCAA tournament history last season when his 3-pointer at the buzzer beat the Tar Heels to give the Wildcats their first title since 1985.

Jenkins' family member, Nate Britt II, is a member of the Tar Heels program and the two linked up for some pickup on the North Carolina campus.

While most would think there would be some hostility toward a player that ended their championship hopes, the Wildcats forward was welcomed and even spoke to coach Roy Williams.

"He was great,'' Jenkins told Dana O'Neil of ESPN. "Told me it was a great shot.''

Many things have changed since the 6-foot-6 junior made that shot in Houston. He's had famous people congratulate him on Twitter, and even got a shout-out from President Barack Obama when the president called him "Kris Jenkins, aka Big Smoove."

"It's humbling, really humbling,'' the junior said.

For Britt II, the shot is always present in their own house. Britt's bedroom is covered in Tar Heel blue, while Jenkins' room has a "Villanova National Champions" flag.
