theScore's Week 10 Fantasy Hitter Power Rankings
Here is the Week 10 edition of theScore's Fantasy Hitter Power Rankings, in which we list the top 40 hitters in fantasy baseball using standard 5x5 scoring (Value Based Ranks provided by FantasyPros; stats through Monday):
1. OF Mookie Betts, Red Sox (LW: 1)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2 | .289 | 58 | 14 | 47 | 11 |
Betts may have one of the lowest average home run distances in baseball, but they all count - and those longballs, combined with a pile of runs scored, keeps him just ahead of the competition through 10 weeks.
2. SS Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (LW: 7)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
3 | .359 | 51 | 8 | 44 | 9 |
Boston's middle infield is the hottest ticket in fantasy after Bogaerts posted the top line of any fantasy hitter last week (.500, 5 R, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 2 SB). David Ortiz called Bogaerts the top shortstop in baseball. He isn't far off.
3. 2B Jose Altuve, Astros (LW: 2)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | .344 | 46 | 10 | 38 | 18 |
How does Altuve post the sixth-best fantasy week among hitters (.462, 2 R, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 2 SB) and still drop a spot? Betts and Bogaerts have been just that good. But Altuve is no slouch himself, and is capable of reclaiming top spot.
4. 2B Ian Kinsler, Tigers (LW: 6)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
4 | .316 | 53 | 13 | 42 | 7 |
Kinsler continues to be one of the biggest surprises in fantasy, coming off a week that saw him rack up six more runs scored along with a .320 average, two home runs and a whopping 10 RBIs. He's a sell-high candidate.
5. OF Mike Trout, Angels (LW: 5)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
5 | .309 | 43 | 13 | 44 | 9 |
It was a bit of a mixed bag for Trout owners, who didn't get much in any one category but did receive a little bit of everything (.292, 4 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 SB). The good news: He's now on pace to surpass 20 steals on the season.

6. OF/SS Ian Desmond, Rangers (LW: 9)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
6 | .306 | 44 | 9 | 42 | 12 |
Chalk up another sensational week for Desmond, who hit .321 with two homers, eight RBIs, a steal and three runs scored. Any questions about his form following an early-season slump have been heartily extinguished.
7. 3B Nolan Arenado, Rockies (LW: 4)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
8 | .285 | 45 | 19 | 53 | 1 |
Arenado drops a few spots after another ho-hum week in which he batted 7-for-26 with a homer, six RBIs and three runs scored. He remains among the league leaders in the run production power stats, so owners needn't fret.
8. 2B Robinson Cano, Mariners (LW: 8)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
7 | .295 | 48 | 18 | 51 | 0 |
Cano continues chugging along in an impressive Seattle lineup, going 10-for-30 last week with two home runs, three RBIs and six runs scored. He is exhibiting no signs of slowing down, and could wind up with 35+ homers.
9. 2B/3B Daniel Murphy, Nationals (LW: 10)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
9 | .369 | 38 | 11 | 42 | 2 |
It was a rare off-week for Murphy, who batted a paltry .227 in 22 at-bats. He did add a home run and a steal, along with five RBIs and four runs scored - counting totals that make it a lot easier to forgive the low batting average.
10. 1B/OF Mark Trumbo, Orioles (LW: 11)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
11 | .286 | 38 | 20 | 49 | 1 |
Nobody would have figured Trumbo to be the first major-leaguer to reach 20 homers this season, but here we are. And even more significant: He continues to maintain a high batting average, making him a great source of runs.

11. DH David Ortiz, Red Sox (LW: 3)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
10 | .340 | 29 | 16 | 55 | 1 |
Ortiz ran into the only thing capable of slowing him down: A National League park. Ortiz was limited to just two plate appearances in San Francisco, resulting in a quiet week by his standards (5-for-15, 1 R, 0 HR, 1 RBI).
12. 3B/SS Manny Machado, Orioles (LW: 12)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
14 | .308 | 47 | 16 | 39 | 0 |
Machado had a big week, batting .310 while scoring eight times and pounding out a pair of home runs. The only thing keeping him out of the "best SS in fantasy conversation": Zero stolen base attempts since May 10.
13. 3B/OF Kris Bryant, Cubs (LW: 14)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
15 | .280 | 47 | 15 | 45 | 2 |
Everything Bryant did last week was a boon to fantasy owners - he hit .333 for the seven-day stretch, with seven runs scored, two home runs, five RBIs and his long-awaited second stolen base of the campaign.
14. SS Jonathan Villar, Brewers (LW: 18)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
13 | .292 | 33 | 5 | 25 | 23 |
Villar had the worst week of anyone to move up on the list - he batted just 4-for-24 with two runs scored and nine strikeouts. But the two stolen bases he had put further separation between Villar and the rest of the league.
15. OF Starling Marte, Pirates (LW: 19)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
12 | .332 | 33 | 5 | 23 | 19 |
Marte was terrific at the plate last week, batting .400 while scoring three runs, driving in a pair and adding a steal. His upside is capped by the lack of power, but he's a star at just about everything else.

16. 1B/OF Wil Myers, Padres (LW: 34)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
16 | .287 | 40 | 13 | 37 | 8 |
The Myers resurgence is real after the oft-injured, much-maligned Padre erupted for three homers, seven RBIs, seven runs scored and two stolen bases last week. With an ADP of 239, he's one of fantasy's biggest steals.
17. OF Jackie Bradley Jr., Red Sox (LW: 26)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
20 | .311 | 34 | 10 | 43 | 5 |
Speaking of bargains, Bradley was a waiver-wire pickup in most leagues - but continues to produce like a third-rounder. He had just four hits in 20 at-bats last week, but added a homer, a steal, five RBIs and five runs scored.
18. OF Gregory Polanco, Pirates (LW: 13)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
18 | .296 | 43 | 9 | 39 | 8 |
Polanco is in danger of falling back out of the top-20 after producing just six hits in 28 at-bats last week. He did score four runs and added a stolen base, but that lone RBI isn't going to cut it for fantasy owners.
19. 2B/SS Eduardo Nunez, Twins (LW: 24)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
17 | .327 | 32 | 9 | 24 | 14 |
Few expected Nunez to wind up as Minnesota's top fantasy option, but he continues to cement his case. The versatile infielder batted .269 last week with a pair of solo home runs, two stolen bases and five runs scored.
20. SS Francisco Lindor, Indians (LW: 20)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
19 | .304 | 40 | 7 | 33 | 10 |
Lindor had a rough go of it, batting a dismal .217 with a homer, four RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Still, if you told fantasy owners in April that Lindor would be close to a 20-30 pace in mid-June, they would happily take it.

21. 1B Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
21 | .283 | 35 | 11 | 39 | 8 |
That squeaky new batting average is what fantasy owners are accustomed to - and comes to them courtesy a .458 showing last week. Goldschmidt added a home run, a steal, six runs scored and five RBIs. He's back.
22. SS Trevor Story, Rockies (LW: 22)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
24 | .261 | 36 | 16 | 42 | 4 |
You have to like what Story is doing given that he was either a late-round pick or an early-season waiver-wire claim. But oh, what could have been: The rookie has 24 strikeouts in 52 at-bats with runners in scoring position to date.
23. 3B Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays (LW: 36)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
22 | .254 | 49 | 14 | 37 | 4 |
Donaldson has been doing most of his recent damage in one-game spurts, but fantasy owners will take a line like this every week (.292, 6 R, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 1 SB). He should find his way back to the top 20 soon enough.
24. 2B/OF Ben Zobrist, Cubs (LW: 27)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
25 | .324 | 44 | 8 | 38 | 2 |
Zobrist was dismal the week before, but bounced back nicely with a 6-for-20 showing over his previous seven days. He chipped a homer, three RBIs and five runs scored, and remains on pace for a career year at the plate.
25. OF Bryce Harper, Nationals (LW: 23)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
27 | .258 | 37 | 13 | 38 | 7 |
Even in a bounce-back week, Harper's fantasy value slides; he batted .333, but didn't record a home run or a steal while driving in four and scoring three times. He has just four homers and two steals since April 29. Not good.

26. OF Nelson Cruz, Mariners (LW: 32)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
26 | .293 | 36 | 15 | 43 | 0 |
Cruz vaults up the list thanks to some nice work at the plate last week (.321, 4 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI). Some of his run-producing chances have been absorbed by a homer-happy Cano, but fantasy owners shouldn't be complaining.
27. OF Jay Bruce, Reds (LW: 21)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
28 | .271 | 36 | 14 | 44 | 3 |
Bruce had a home run and a steal last week, but that's about all that went right for him (.190, 2 R, 4 RBI). It will be interesting to see if he's moved prior to the July 31 trade deadline; a deal to the AL would sting NL-only owners.
28. 1B Anthony Rizzo, Cubs (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
31 | .259 | 38 | 14 | 47 | 2 |
Rizzo has had quite a yo-yo season, but is back on the upswing after batting .360 with a homer, seven RBIs and four runs scored last week. His batting average still has room to grow, but expect more dud weeks mixed in.
29. OF Yoenis Cespedes, Mets (LW: 30)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
30 | .286 | 34 | 16 | 40 | 1 |
Cespedes moves up a spot despite having a quiet week when it came to counting stats (.310, 2 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI). He's doing exactly what fantasy owners hoped he would on draft day - no more, no less.
30. 1B Eric Hosmer, Royals (LW: 25)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
23 | .313 | 32 | 12 | 38 | 4 |
It was an interesting week for Hosmer, who went deep twice against Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale but didn't do much else (.286, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI). Still, he's on pace to obliterate his previous career high of 19 homers.

31. OF George Springer, Astros (LW: 16)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
32 | .271 | 43 | 14 | 37 | 4 |
Springer takes a significant tumble after a dismal week in which he batted 4-for-30 with a solo homer, a stolen base and five runs scored. He won't have many weeks like this, and is a prime candidate for a major bounce-back.
32. OF Marcell Ozuna, Marlins (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
29 | .319 | 38 | 12 | 37 | 0 |
While Giancarlo Stanton continues to flounder, Ozuna has taken over as the lynch pin of the Miami offense. The outfielder posted a sizzling .357 average last week, adding a home run, eight RBIs and three runs scored.
33. 3B Todd Frazier, White Sox (LW: 15)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
35 | .211 | 37 | 19 | 42 | 5 |
Frazier belted his 19th home run of the season last week, but that's about all the good news (.136, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI). He's an elite contributor in most of the counting stats, but that batting average has become quite the anchor.
34. OF Carlos Beltran, Yankees (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
33 | .277 | 35 | 16 | 44 | 0 |
Who saw this coming? Beltran has gone from useful fifth fantasy outfielder to must-own stud after erupting for a .346 average last week, adding three homers, 11 RBIs and six runs scored. Ride him while he's red-hot.
35. OF Ryan Braun, Brewers (LW: 35)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
36 | .316 | 26 | 11 | 36 | 5 |
Braun holds steady thanks to a pair of home runs last week, but didn't do much else - he finished with just four hits in 24 at-bats. Braun continues to check all the fantasy boxes, but he's no longer a top-10 threat.

36. OF Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies (LW: 31)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
34 | .298 | 41 | 14 | 34 | 0 |
Gonzalez looked a lot like his teammate Story last week, fanning 14 times in 24 at-bats. That took a big bite out of his production (.208, 3 R, 1 HR, 5 RBI); fortunately, those Ks are more the exception than the norm.
37. 1B Mike Napoli, Indians (LW: 29)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
38 | .244 | 40 | 14 | 45 | 2 |
Napoli was relatively quiet over the previous seven days, batting .292 but producing just two runs, three RBIs and zero homers. You have to wonder if we've seen the best of him this season. Consider selling him you own him.
38. 1B Edwin Encarnacion, Blue Jays (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
39 | .247 | 32 | 15 | 54 | 1 |
Encarnacion has been the quietest run producer in baseball, sitting second in the majors in RBIs despite a batting average below .250. He ranked fourth overall among hitters last week (.240, 7 R, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 1 SB).
39. 1B/3B Matt Carpenter, Cardinals (LW: --)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
40 | .285 | 44 | 10 | 42 | 0 |
It was a good week for Carpenter despite limited action, as he batted 5-for-15 with a home run, six RBIs and five runs scored. He missed a pair of weekend games, but should be good to go for the week.
40. SS Corey Seager, Dodgers (LW: 17)
VBR | BA | R | HR | RBI | SB |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
37 | .280 | 40 | 14 | 35 | 1 |
Seager produced next to nothing this week, going a dreadful 4-for-19 at the plate with two runs scored. Those owners riding high after his five-homers-in-three-games effort against Atlanta have to be disappointed.
